The Director General of Elections Cameroon Erik Essousse, has urged observers of the March 12 senatorial elections to exercise objectivity and professionalism throughout the voting process.
He was speaking on Thursday, March 9, during a briefing with accredited national and international observers of the upcoming polls.
“They should make reports of exactly what they see. They should respect the procedures that are in place for transparent elections” Erik Essousse said.
The ELECAM DG added that the necessary mobilization has been done in all ten regions of the country. He said the security situation in the Northwest and Southwest regions has been taken into consideration as well.
“Ever since the start of the crisis, you see that the elections have always been held in the best conditions. We have the support of the administrative authorities and security forces to ensure that everything goes on well” Essousse assured.
Ten retained political parties will be competing for 70 seats in the upper house of parliament. Thirty others will be appointed by the Head of State.
