Telecommunications Minister refute rumours of October internet shutdown

Cameroon’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Minette Libom Li Likeng, has denied claims that plans are  underway to shutdown internet in Cameroon from October 7 to 9 2018.
In a press release issued on Monday, Minister Libom said; “the rumours are sheer manipulations and fake news”.
She also recalled President Biya’s firm commitment to implement a policy geared at developing a far reaching digital ecosystem which complies with the country’s rules and regulations.
However in the past, Minister Minette Libom Li Likeng, had debunked the same rumours in the month of September 2017, but the escalating crisis on October 1, made the government to reconsider its decision, and denizens of the English speaking regions of Cameroon reported that they witnessed limited internet connections.

It remains uncertain at the moment, whether there same situation will not rise again.
