2017 AFCON winners Nicolas Nkoulou and Georges Mandjeck who have been away from the national team for several years, have been included on the list that Indomitable Lions coach Rigobert Song will take to South Korea for the friendlies against Uzbekistan and South Korea.
Rigobert Song said it was crucial in their preparation for the Qatar World Cup, to call up the two senior players who many consider are too old for the team.
“You are talking about age. There is nothing like age in football. In football, we talk more of experience, and I think that those two, whether Mandjeck or Nicolas Nkoulou, we need experienced players. I think we need those players to bring something to the new generation” Rigobert Song told reporters during a press conference on Monday.
Nicolas Nkoulou, 32, and Georges Mandjeck, 33, according to the coach, need to be given a chance with the team once more, with the hope that they can bring dynamism to the squad as they prepare for the 2022 World Cup which will take place in November/December.
Ahead of the tournament, the friendlies against Uzbekistan and South Korea will be played on September 23 and 27 respectively.
