Travel within Africa needs to be easier and cheaper – Kagame

The President of Rwanda Paul Kagame, has reiterated the need for travelling around Africa to be made easier and less costly.

He said his country is to implement visa-free entry from other African countries. “Let there be no mistake about it: Any African can get on a plane to Rwanda whenever they wish and will not pay a thing to enter our country. We should not lose sight of our own continental market.”

Kagame told participants at the World Travel and Tourism Council’s Global Summit hosted by Rwanda between November 1-3, that his country has “removed visa restrictions for citizens of every African country – as well as many other countries”.

If the move becomes fully implemented, Rwanda will join Seychelles, The Gambia and Benin as countries that have already introduced the visa-free travelling within Africa.
