Some victims of the recent attacks on the National road number 3, have been recounting experiences of how it felt like to be in a bus which at one point of the journey, was at the mercy of bandits.
Smashing the windscreen of the vehicle so that it stops, and then the passengers emptied of their valuables, has been the modus operandi of the persons behind the criminal activity, victims indicate.
“I believe that these unknown guys that attacked us, their target was…had it been the bus stopped, that is when maybe they would have come in with their weapons and robbed us” one of the passengers who arrived uninjured said.
It is worth noting that some victims of other vehicles, sustained injuries. From their explanations, the target was the driver.
“Traveling from Yaounde, as we got at one point in Edea, we saw a very huge stone that left from nowhere and landed on the windscreen of the car. We could not trace where the stone was coming from. But from the look of things, we could see that the target was the driver” a traveler explained.
The driver said “I heard a huge sound like that of a bomb. I saw the screen broken and immediately I lost control. It is when I said the prayer ‘Allahu Akbar’ that I got back on track”.
Reacting after the recent attacks, the Governor of the Littoral region Samuel Ivaha Diboua, said measures have been put in place to reinforce security. He said some suspects have been arrested already.
