Neighbourhoods in Cameroon’s two major cities Yaounde and Douala, have had to keep heaps of waste in their homes over the past few weeks, due to the irregularity of sanitation company HYSACAM.
The inconsistency, according to the company, is caused by fuel scarcity. A communique released in that regard acknowledged that for several weeks now, “there has been irregularity of the sanitation service in towns particularly Yaounde and Douala.”
The company indicated that the government learned of what was happening, and gave special instructions to the SCDP to provide “the quantity of fuel needed to keep towns across the country clean.”
“The distribution started from 13 March 2023” HYSACM said, assuring Cameroonians that measures are being taken to ensure the situation gets back to normal in the days ahead.
