Cameroon’s loss to Senegal in their second group stage match of the AFCON 2023, has further complicated the team’s qualification to the next round.
Speaking to the press after the match on Friday, striker Leonel Ateba acknowledged the complex nature of the situation. “We are forced to pick our calculators now” he said.
“It is true that we had a well-organized Senegal team in front of us. That is football. Football is difficult matches and how to find solutions.
“Today we weren’t able to find a solution, but I hope that we are still going to have our chances to qualify” the Colombe forward and unused substitute commented, pointing out that “all is not lost”.
The Teranga Lions defeated Cameroon 3-1, after the Indomitable Lions tied with Guinea 1-1 in their opening game. Rigobert Song has Gambia to face in the last group stage match.
