Cameroon’s Minister of Labour and Social Security Gregoire Owona has encouraged workers across the country to claim what is rightfully theirs.
While speaking on May 1st as activities marking the celebration of the 136th International Labour Day were being carried out, the Minister said “there are certain strike actions which expose the weaknesses of our system.”
“When the teachers uncover a certain number of things which show the limits of our administration, it helps awaken us to resolve it.”
“When someone is working and is not being paid, he should claim his salary. When someone works for several years without being integrated whereas it is his right to be integrated…”
Gregoire Owona said the only time a problem arises is when workers carry out a protest which is unjustified.
