The World Bank Vice President for West and Central Africa Ousmane Diagana, has been in Cameroon for some days now, holding talks with stakeholders of the country. Speaking to the State broadcaster on Wednesday 15 September, he disclosed that their focus is on five key areas of interest.
“First thing COVID and vaccine, second thing energy, third thing education, fourth women and fifth the youths and children” Ousmane Diagana stated. He said they want to digitalize Cameroon’s economy to ease access to services as well as create more job opportunities.
Among other issues that have been discussed, climate change retains particular attention “climate change is impacting on all countries and we are now preparing a report to see what type of things that Cameroon could undertake to adapt to the climate change and this is through the preparation of new partnership framework that will enable our intervention in the country to move forward” Ousmane Diagana.
The World Bank is said to be seeking ways to provide responses to the crisis in the English-speaking and Far North regions of Cameroon in order to enhance economic development.
