Cameroon will be among the 10 nations to compete in the final round of the CAF Qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The Indomitable Lions defeated Ivory Coast 1-0 on Tuesday November 16, to clinch their ticket.
Fans who were present at the Japoma stadium for the match, watched entertaining football from the likes of Fai Collins, Andre Onana, and Karl Toko Ekambi the goal scorer, who propelled the Lions to success with his superb finish in the 21st minute.
Terrific saves from goalkeeper Andre Onana, prevented the Ivorians from complicating the equation. Although Cameroon demonstrated superiority with a booster from the stands, the Elephants didn’t relent. They kept menacing the Cameroonian defense. Unfortunately for the visitors, their efforts did not yield fruit.
Cameroon qualified from Group D with 15 points at the top. Ivory Coast finished second with 13 points, Malawi four points and Madagascar three points.
The other nine teams that will participate in the playoffs include; Algeria (Group A), Tunisia (Group B), Nigeria (Group C), Mali (Group E), Egypt (Group F), Ghana (Group G), Senegal (Group H), Morocco (Group I) and DR Congo (Group J).
