Ride-hailing service Yango announced today its further plans to contribute to developing electronic communications and IT infrastructure in Cameroon. Yango will soon bring the international IT educational project Practicum to the country, which is already helping thousands of people worldwide gain knowledge for the modern and in-demand IT profession.
Practicum is the largest US-based boot camp and a short-term intensive training program. It allows students with little or no proficiency to learn essential skills and immediately apply them. As a result, over 80% of its 5,000 graduates worldwide landed jobs shortly after completing the program.
Practicum has extensive experience in developing courses for different countries, taking into account the local specifics and market demand. For example, in Cameroon, data analysis and web development programs plan to be offered within the platform as these professions are among the most in-demand in the region and contribute to the country’s economy.
Yango engineers participated in developing courses for Cameroon. Great expertise in developing and integrating high-loaded apps allowed them to make the course even more up to date and rewarding.
Didier Theze, Country Manager for Yango in Cameroon, said: “As a ride-hailing app, Yango is constantly developing the electronic culture in the market. By bringing an established EdTech product to the country, we want to continue our mission and expand access to Cameroonians to technologies and knowledge by offering more learning options.
We have already successfully worked with Practicum in other regions in various areas, including education, re-education and advanced training. Our team believes it will deliver great results in Cameroon and provide the local market with more new tech experts to boost its development.”
The ride-hailing service Yango, which operates today in more than 20 countries, launched in Cameroon last year.
It’s currently available in Yaounde and Douala. Recently, the service introduced a driving-style monitoring feature designed to improve road safety in the country. Unlike other ride-hailing services, the Yango app uses its own mapping, routing and navigation, as well as smart order distribution algorithms.
