A pregnant woman is reported to have given birth on board a train, while traveling from Yaounde to Douala on Sunday, July 24.
The lady gave birth to a baby boy when they were over midway the journey, at Edea.
As reported by the Guardian Post Newspaper, the management of the railway company CAMRAIL, confirmed the development in a note.
“The passenger gave birth to a male child without complications, thanks to the assistance of the CAMRAIL team and a Doctor among the travelers as well as onboard security” a section of the note read.
Other passengers on the train lauded the timely intervention of the personnel and some of the travelers who assisted.
“She is a strong and determined lady to have accepted to put confidence in people she does not know. She told us she was due to put to birth by the end of July, reason she was going to Douala to have her baby but God had another plan” one of the passengers commented.
The delivery was successful, with the mother and baby all doing well.
However, upon arrival at the Bessengue Station in Douala, the lady was taken to a nearby hospital for adequate checks.
