A locally made explosive is said to have been discovered at the Rond Point Damas neighbourhood in Yaounde, a few hours to French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Cameroon.
Sources say the improvised explosive device was put in a plastic bag and placed by the roadside.
No casualty was recorded as the device was neutralized by security forces before any harm could be caused.
This is the third explosive discovered in Yaounde, following two others that went off at the Mokolo market a few weeks ago.
This is happening at a time when Emmanuel Macron is expected to meet with Cameroon President Paul Biya, and hold discussions which will cut across a wide spectrum of issues including security.
The French President’s visit will last for 72 hours, July 25 – 27.
