Yong Sports Academy coach, Martin Nkabyo, has resigned from his job at the club through social media to the surprise of the team’s management.
This came after a 0-1 loss to Union Sportive of Douala on matchday 19 of the Elite One Championship, Thursday. The defeat added to the string of winless outings recorded by the Northwest side, which has won just one match in their last nine games.
“I’ve decided to step down from my functions as head trainer of YOSA because I think it’s important for the club to forge ahead, I think it’s important for these young lads to enjoy a more exciting end of the season” Nkabyo’s message read.
In reaction to the situation the club management made a statement expressing their shock.
“The Management Board of Yong Sports Academy have found with consternation the resignation of Mr Nkabyo Martin on social media.
“The resignation which was received with shock came at a time when YOSA was ready to undertake measures to improve on the recent performances of the team” the club’s statement disclosed, indicating that the resignation has been accepted by the team’s management board.
“Management has placed the team in the hands of coach Ndikum Blaise and coach Koubou while in the search for a replacement” the statement continued.
“The bonuses of the players will be doubled with a win in their next games.”
Coach Nkabyo Martin leaves the Yellow Submarines after three football seasons with the club.
