Relatives of an abandoned corpse at the Yaounde Jamot hospital have been given latest Tuesday May 30, 2017 by the Director of the Jamot hospital, Joseph Marie Mendini Nkodo, to claim the remains of their deceased relative that has spent 16 years at the hospital’s mortuary.
Reports say the relative who died in 2001 was deposited at the Jamot hospital but when the family came for the corpse removal, the body presented to them was allegedly not that of their relative. The family refused to retrieve the body till date.
The Director of the Jamot hospital also called on other families whose corpses have been abandoned for years now at the mortuary, to come and claim their relatives, else he will hand them over to the Yaoundé City Council for mass burial.
CNA sources say about 60 corpses are pending removal at the Yaounde Jamot hospital mortuary.
