Rose Mbole Epie speaks out on false death rumours

Retired Tam-Tam Weekend host, Rose Mbole Epie, who worked for the Cameroon Radio Television (CRTV) for over 20 years, has spoken out after she was alleged to be dead.

Several online platforms announced she had passed, a rumour she said she was shocked to hear. “It’s difficult to imagine that someone can sit and write something like that”.

The veteran radio and TV host was guest on the Equinox TV show “Dimanche Avec Vous”. She explained how she received the death rumour. “I don’t know why the rumour came up.

“It’s one of my cousins who called me and asked if I’m still alive. She said it had been written that I’m dead” Rose Epie revealed.

“It’s after people started coming to the house to check, others sending condolence messages to my sisters and family, that I really got surprised.”

She said she tried to figure out if she had wronged someone in her career.

Born in the North West region but a native of Bakossi in the South West region. Rose was one of the pioneers that defined CRTV’s talk shows like Tam-Tam Weekend, Tropicana, and Monday Show.

However, her exit from the national television, came with disappointment. She complained of not being respected at one point, when she presented her show Tam-Tam Weekend, highlighting that young colleagues started undermining her efforts.

The presenter, renowned for her eloquence, said she and her colleagues at the time, have never been recognized for their contribution in making the CRTV what it is today.
